The second episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Reboot" (Sundays at 9:00 PM), starring Ryohei Suzuki, aired on January 25th. The scene in which Ichika, played by Erika Toda, eats cream puffs with Riku Hayase (played by Suzuki), who is disguised as Gido, sparked speculation among viewers.
◇The following contains spoilers
Hayase, who was disguised as Gido, barely survived when Kaieda (Sakamoto Yoshi), a lawyer and subordinate of Goroku (Kitamura Yukiya), confessed to embezzling funds from the organization.
Later, Ichika and Hayase came to Gido's room. "I rebooted you knowing you would be in danger. But I really did decide to protect you, since I had dragged you into it," she revealed. She also admitted that she had pretended to be Gido's lover to avoid raising suspicions from Goroku.
Hayase took out a cream puff from Hayase Confectionery and explained that he had improved it based on Ichika's advice. Ichika stared intently at the cream puff handed to her, and the moment she put it in her mouth, she nodded vigorously and broke into a smile. Watching this, Hayase said, "I've decided to trust you, Ichika. Let's both survive for the sake of our families."
On social media, there has been speculation that Hayase's wife, Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka), has been rebooted into Ichika. After the broadcast of the second episode, there was a lot of buzz, with comments such as "I can't help but feel like Natsumi has rebooted into Ichika," "The theory that Ichika = Natsumi has become even stronger," "The way Ichika laughs when she eats the cream puff seems the same as Natsumi's, but maybe not," and "I think Natsumi has rebooted Ichika. In the scene where Natsumi eats the cake and the scene where Ichika eats the cream puff, isn't the gesture of closing her eyes as if savoring the taste the same?"
The drama is a suspense story about Hayase Riku, who is framed for the murder of his wife, abandoning his family and past to reboot himself as a corrupt detective, Gido, and pursue the real culprit. The script is written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa, who has worked on many hit Sunday Theatre dramas such as "Grand Maison Tokyo," "TOKYO MER: Running Emergency Room," and "My Family."
