Actor Koichi Iwaki and his wife, model Anna Yuki, appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on January 28th. The couple, now in their 70s, revealed that there have been major changes in their lives.
This year marks their 50th wedding anniversary. Until now, Iwaki would go out drinking in Ginza every day and return home at dawn, but since last year he has stopped going out altogether. He says he mostly just stays at home lying around. When asked by Tetsuko, "Do you think you've changed a bit?" Iwaki frankly replied, "I wouldn't say I've changed, but rather, it's just too much of a hassle to go out."
In a complete change from his previous routine, Iwaki now goes to bed around 9 pm and wakes up around 5 am the next morning. Yuki said happily, "My rhythm has now matched up with my life."
"Lately, I've been happy watching TV at home. We have a dog, so we've been talking more (as a couple)," said Iwaki, talking about the changes he's experienced. When asked by Tetsuko, "Are you happiest now?" he admitted, "I don't have anything to say, and I'm always at home, so I don't have anything to hide. It's just the way it is."
