NHK Special's regular broadcast of the popular series "Unsolved Cases" (General TV, Saturday 10:00 PM) will rebroadcast "File 11: The Missing 47 Billion Yen Bitcoin Theft Case" from 12:35 AM on January 20th.
Bitcoin is now attracting attention not only from investors but also from the general public. It first became known to the world in 2014 when a huge amount of Bitcoin worth 47 billion yen disappeared from Mt. Gox in Shibuya, Tokyo.
The truth of this case remains unsolved, and many mysteries remain. The arrested president has now testified about the whole incident. Investigators and hackers from around the world also revealed for the first time their battles with the suspects. The truth is revealed, including the shadow of criminals operating in secret to target huge amounts of cryptocurrency, and the emerging intentions of nation states.
"Unsolved Cases" is a popular series on NHK Special that began airing in 2011 and unravels historical cases through thorough investigative reporting. It will begin airing as a regular program in October 2025, unearthing new facts and testimonies, while also highlighting connections to the present day and lessons learned.
