To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the popular anime series "Evangelion," it has been announced that a new short anime, "Evangelion Broadcast 30th Anniversary Special Performance," will be produced. It will have its world premiere as a venue-exclusive video at the event "EVANGELION: 30+; 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION (Eva Fest)," to be held at Yokohama Arena (Kohoku Ward, Yokohama) from February 21st to 23rd, 2026. The new short anime, approximately 13 minutes long, will be newly produced for the event and will be planned, scripted, and supervised by Hideaki Anno Anno, with Naoyuki Asano, who served as animation director for "Evangelion: Evangelion" theatrical version, directing. Kazuya Tsurumaki, Shinji Higuchi, and Kazuki Todoroki, who have all worked on the "Evangelion " series, will also participate as supervisors.
The new short anime will be screened once a day on a large LED screen measuring approximately 18 meters wide and 15 meters tall, which will be set up on the Eva Fest stage.
The Eva Fest will be the first major three-day festival in the series, with creators from Studio Khara in charge of overall direction. The venue will be divided into an exhibition area called "EVA EXTRA 30" and a stage event area called "STAGE AREA," and will feature projects that express the "past" and "future" of "Eva."
In addition to an opening event featuring voice actors, the event will also feature the unveiling of "Kabuki Symphony No. 100 Evangelion ," the first collaboration between the " Evangelion " series and the traditional performing art of Kabuki.
The " Evangelion" series began airing on October 4, 1995 with the TV anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion," and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025.
