It has been announced that "Summers x Summers," the comedy duo Summers' show which was revived on BS Asahi in April this year, will be broadcast on terrestrial TV for the first time in about five years and three months as a one-night special. The show will be titled "Summers x Summers BS Summers One-Night Only Terrestrial TV Special" (TV Asahi affiliates, excluding some areas) and will air from 12:30 a.m. on December 25th.
"Summers x Summers" was a talk variety show that aired on TV Asahi for around 13 and a half years from April 2007 to September 2020. Otake Kazuki and Mimura Masakazu gained popularity by engaging in hilarious conversations in front of an audience about their everyday lives, such as family topics and mishaps they encountered. Starting in April of this year, the show was revived on BS Asahi as "Summers x Summers BS Summers" (Saturdays at 11:30 pm).
Kyoko Saito, Hikorohee, and Shintaro Morimoto from SixTONES will appear as guests in the "Everyone's Complaints Corner" of this terrestrial special. Saito and Hikorohee, who have previously appeared on other programs with Summers, will appear as video guests. Morimoto, who has previously appeared on other programs with Summers as a child, will appear as a studio guest.
There will also be a special project that can only be done on terrestrial TV. In addition, there will be a new project in which the scripts of the short skits of the duo Samaazu will be edited by a generation AI, and the duo will then take on the challenge of rewriting the short skits.
Otake commented, "It was fantastic, with lots of surprises that you can only get from a terrestrial TV special! It's also broadcast regularly on BS Asahi, so I hope you'll check that out as well!"
Mimura said, "I said I might not be able to sing in the first half, but since a star came, I raised my voice and did my best. A lot of things happened that we didn't know about! We'll be doing it as a present on Christmas night, so I hope you'll come and watch!"
In preparation for the terrestrial broadcast special, TVer, ABEMA, and TV Asahi Video will be streaming three more popular works from the terrestrial broadcast era in addition to the five already being streamed.
