The Japanese dubbed version of the popular Chinese web anime series "The Legend of Hei" will enter a new chapter, "The Gate of Beings," from episode 10, which will air on December 7th. A new visual has been released in conjunction with the start of the new chapter. In the new chapter, Xiaohei takes on a human form and takes on a new mission with Xiao Bai and others.
The Blu-ray Disc (BD) and DVD of the TV anime will be released sequentially from January 28, 2026. There will be a total of five volumes, with the first volume coming with a bonus acrylic stand featuring original illustrations of Agen and Xiaohei, and a perpetual daily calendar.
"The Legend of Hei" is produced by Chinese animator and animation director MTJJ and Hanmu Chunhua (HMCH) Studio. The web animation series was released on a video site in March 2011 and gained popularity, and a theatrical version was later released. The theatrical version was a hit, grossing approximately 315 million yuan (approximately 4.9 billion yen) at the box office in China.
A subtitled version was released in Japan in September 2019, and a Japanese dubbed version was released in November 2020. The dubbed version had a long run of screenings for about six months, grossing over 520 million yen. The Japanese dubbed and subtitled versions of the new animated film, "The Legend of Hei 2: The Future We Want," were released simultaneously on November 7th.
