NHK's popular evening drama "Hira Yasumi" (General TV, Monday to Thursday, 10:45 PM), starring actor Okayama Amane and co-starring Mori Nana, is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by Shinzo Keigo, which has been serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits since 2021, and will enter its final week (5th week) on December 1st. Producer Otsuka Yasuki shared her impression of Negishi Tokie, who plays Wada Hanae, and what to look forward to in the final week.
The drama tells the story of 29-year-old part-time worker Hiroto Ikuta (Okayama) who inherits a single-story house from his neighbor Hanae Wada (Negishi) and begins living with his 18-year-old cousin Natsumi Kobayashi (Mori), who has moved to Tokyo from Yamagata. People with difficult problems gather around them...
Otsuka revealed, "Negishi Tokie, who plays the grandmother, always bends her back throughout the drama, but she actually has very good posture."
"She read through the original work before the costume fitting, and before I could say a word, she made many suggestions about the color of the gray hair, saying, 'The gray hair should not be dirty, but it should not be pretty either,' and about the skin texture, saying, 'Let's make the skin look blemish-like,' and from the visual perspective, the grandmother that was born was even better than I had imagined. I have nothing but respect for the way she brilliantly played the role of a grandmother who is more than 10 years older than her actual age."

In the final week, there will also be a talk about "white hydrangeas," which Otsuka "really wanted to include."
"It's an important episode, so I'm nervous until it airs, but I hope you'll watch it."
