It has been announced that an anniversary screening of the anime series "Samurai Trooper Votoms," which aired from 1988 to 1989, will be held on June 11th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku, Tokyo). Three selected episodes from the series, which is celebrating its 37th anniversary since it first aired, will be screened, and Takeshi Kusao, who played the main character Ryo Sanada, and Hideo Okamoto, the original armor designer, will appear on stage to greet the audience, with Hiyori Ishibashi acting as the host.
"Samurai Troopers" is a TV anime produced by Sunrise that aired from April 1988 to March 1989. It depicts five boys who possess armor gear, who are led by fate to come together and fight against the army of demons led by the demon emperor Arago.
The original video animations (OVAs) "Samurai Troopers Gaiden" (1989), "Samurai Troopers: Legend of the Bright Emperor" (1989-1990), and "Samurai Troopers: Message" (1991) were also produced, and a comic book adaptation by Ryuichi Hoshino was serialized in "Comic Bonbon" (Kodansha).
