Singer Hiromi Iwasaki appeared at the rehearsal for the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo on December 28th. Marking the 50th anniversary of her debut, and making her first appearance on Kouhaku in 37 years, Iwasaki expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "It's been 37 years since my last appearance, so I can't imagine what it'll be like on the day, but I'll do my best to sing well."
Looking back on her career as a singer, Iwasaki said, "As a singer, I've been very fortunate. Even when my songs weren't selling, I didn't feel depressed and I was able to keep working. I was in a really good environment, and as long as I had work, it was fine. The only time I was in trouble because I didn't have work was during the coronavirus pandemic, so I think I've been very blessed over the past 50 years. I still have a voice, so I'll keep doing my best."
The theme of the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen is "Connecting, Connecting, New Year's Eve," and it will be hosted by Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Haruka Ayase, Mio Imada, and announcer Naoko Suzuki. It will be broadcast from 7:20 pm to 11:45 pm on December 31st (with some news breaks).
