It has been announced that the second season of the TV anime " The Elusive Samurai, " based on the manga by Yusei Matsui , who is known for " Neuro: Supernatural Detective Neuro" and "Assassination Classroom ," will begin airing in July 2026 on Fuji TV's anime slot "Noitamina." The first season will be rebroadcast in the same slot from April 2026, making the first and second seasons a combined two-cour broadcast. A teaser visual featuring the new character Mima has also been released.
"The Young The Elusive Samurai" is a tale of escape based on the historical facts of the wanderings, hiding, and counterattack of Hojo Tokiyuki, a young warlord who excelled at running away. In 1333, a sudden rebellion brought down the Kamakura Shogunate. Hojo Tokiyuki, a young boy who was supposed to succeed the Shogunate, was invited by Suwa Yorishige, a Shinto priest in Shinano Province, to run away and begin his path to becoming a hero. This is Matsui's first new series in about five years since "Assassination Classroom," and began in January 2021 in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). The comic has sold over 4.5 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from July to September 2024. The anime was directed by Yuta Yamazaki, who has worked on such shows as "Wonder Egg Priority," and produced by CloverWorks, the studio behind "Bocchi the Rock!" Rookie voice actor Asaki Yukawa played the main character, Tokiyuki Hojo. It was also a hot topic that this was Yukawa's first time starring in a TV anime.
