NHK's popular nature program "Darwin Has Come!" (General) will be broadcasting a special episode titled "Miracle! Reversal! Astonishing! Revival from Extinction Special" on December 21st from 7:30 pm. The episode will feature amazing revivals of living creatures that are currently happening all over the world. It will also feature footage from nostalgic nature programs, revealing the power of nature.
It has been 100 years since the show first aired in Japan. During this time, over 100 species have become extinct, with some only remaining as footage. However, amazing stories of revival are now taking place all over the world.
A Caribbean island iguana makes a dramatic comeback from a population of 15, an Australian stick insect is brought back to life using cutting-edge research, and a surprising plan to restore the entire ecosystem of a national park in Mozambique devastated by civil war. This "72-minute year-end special" explores the power of nature with Aiba Masaki and photographer Iwago Mitsuaki.
