It has been announced that MAPPA, known for works such as "Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Chainsaw Man," will be producing the TV anime "Koi seyo Mayakashi Tenshi-domo," based on the manga by Coco Uzuki, which is serialized in the manga magazine "Monthly Dessert" (Kodansha). Taichi Okamoto will serve as director, and Mariko Oka will be in charge of character design. A teaser visual and teaser PV featuring the "perfect beautiful girl" Otogi Katsura and the "perfect handsome boy" Toki Ninomae have been released.
Original author Uzuki commented, "I am deeply moved and incredibly happy to have been given this precious and wonderful opportunity to have my work adapted into an anime. This work is a coming-of-age story through love. Director Okamoto and everyone at MAPPA have carefully stayed true to the core story and worldview of the original work, so I would be delighted if even those who don't usually read romance works would watch it. Thank you very much."
Director Okamoto said, "When I was offered the opportunity to work on this project, I picked up the manga for the first time, and when I made eye contact with Otogi on the cover of the first volume, I was completely captivated. He's so cool, isn't he? The more I read, the more I realized that he's not just cool and cute, but he shows us so many different sides of himself, and I became engrossed in the many contrasts he presents. I hope that we can convey the charm and contrasts of each character, especially Otogi, to the viewers in the best possible way."
Oka said, "At this very moment, I feel great joy and great tension at being involved in the newest and most wonderful work. The main characters are very nostalgic and sparkling to me. I'm thrilled to be able to draw everything from the fairy tale characters' words and actions to Toki's reactions, as they are all cute and cool. "Koi seyo Mayakashi Tenshi-domo" (Fall in Love, Deceptive Angels) began serialization in "Monthly Dessert" in 2023. It's a romantic comedy about deception between Otogi Katsura, a perfect beauty with a hidden side, and Toki Ninomae, a perfect handsome man. Seven volumes of the manga have been released, and it has gained popularity with over 2.25 million copies sold. It will be adapted into a TV anime in 2027.
