The "National Harmony Neptune League 2025 - Japan A Cappella Championship," in which participants compete to be the best a cappella singer in Japan by harmonizing using only their voices without using any instruments, will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9 p.m.) on November 15th. The MCs will be the comedy trio Neptune, and the show will be hosted by Chocolate Planet and the station's announcer, Tsutsumi Reimi.
"Harmony Project" began as a popular segment on the variety show "Go Go Go!!" (1999-2002), hosted by Neptune. This time, there are no age restrictions and the competition is open to professionals and amateurs alike to determine the "true best a cappella in Japan." Eleven groups, who made it out of a record-breaking 347 applicants, and Okayama Gakugeikan High School, winners of the high school competition "Youth A Cappella Koshien! Harmony Project High School" held this summer (broadcast July 26, 2025), will be participating as recommended teams. The 12 elite groups will compete fiercely at Harmony Project, the mecca of a cappella.
The guest judges are artist Tsuyoshi Domoto, actor Yuki Yamada , a Harmonic Project fanatic, artist Ken Kocchino, who is a former member of the Komazawa University a cappella club, Miki Miyamoto, who is also attracting attention as a vocal trainer for the audition "timelesz project -AUDITION-", and Reo Tsuchiya, an alumnus of Harmonic Project and known as a member of "RAG FAIR".
The first round will see the competition divided into four blocks, with three groups competing in each. The Boogie City, which has won two a cappella competitions, ReMember from Ritsumeikan University, which boasts three wins and the most appearances in Harmony Nippon, and the Dolphins, a group of talented young comedians. Also appearing will be Billiken Star, a group made up of talented members from powerful a cappella circles, including Riki, a vocal genius who was selected as one of the final 12 in the audition program YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X, produced by YOSHIKI.
In Block B of the first round, the group will feature former members of the prestigious Kwansei Gakuin Glee Club (Kwansei Gakuin University), a prestigious male choir that boasts a 126-year history and has won the gold medal at the national competition for 12 consecutive years. They will perform the classic "Heigh-Ho" from the Disney film "Snow White" with powerful and beautiful harmonies. In Block D of the first round, they will perform Utagoe Poroporo, a group that sings on the theme of Studio Ghibli music. They will perform a magnificent and mysterious rendition of "The World's Promise" ( Chieko Baisho ), the theme song from the film " Howl's Moving Castle Castle."
Also performing a unique musical performance with a beautifully fused arrangement of classical and J-POP will be the "Classicers" from Block C of the first round. In this competition, they will create a new form of music by mixing Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker" with CANDY TUNE's "Double Fight!"
