It has been revealed that the anime " Kujima Utaeba Ie Hororo ," based on the manga by Akira Konno that was serialized in "Gekkan Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), will be broadcast as a TV anime starting in April 2026. The first cast has also been announced, with Yuria Kozuki playing the mysterious creature "Kujima" and Ayumu Murase playing Arata Koda, a first-year junior high school student who meets Kujima and brings him home.
The story is a sitcom in which a mysterious creature named "Kujima" moves into the slightly tense Koda household, bringing a breath of fresh air. "Kujima" is a mysterious creature of Russian origin that looks like a bird or penguin. He is thin, tall, has human-like limbs, and can speak.
The anime will be directed by Noriyuki Nomata, series director Shinichiro Kimura, series composition by Yasutomo Yamada, character design by Sakurako Mitsuhashi, and music by Mami Kakudo. It will be produced by Studio Hibari. A teaser visual featuring Kujima and Arata Koda, as well as a teaser PV depicting the shocking scene in which Arata Koda encounters Kujima, have been released.
Kamitsuki, who plays Kujima, commented, "I was conscious of Kujima's beak. Of course, I was conscious of it when talking, making small noises, and screaming, but I was especially conscious of the sounds I was making when eating. I was so conscious of it that my mouth ended up pointy, making it difficult to hear the lines and causing me to have to do NGs... The Japanese accent of Russians was more difficult than the Russian language itself, so I struggled a bit...! However, I was frustrated that I couldn't do it, so I practiced my rolling tongue desperately as a child, and it really came in handy when I played Kujima. I'm grateful to myself back then!"
Murase, who plays Koda Arata, said of his impression of the work, "After reading the original work, I felt that the moments of laughter and the atmosphere that slowly well up were a genre I had never experienced before. It matches the beauty of the artist's drawings and is exquisitely comfortable! And above all, I think that Kujima, who is weird and foul-mouthed but has an air of naivety, is charming and cute." Regarding Koda Arata, he said, "I think he's a very ordinary middle school student, but I find his unexpected high analytical ability and somewhat philosophical feeling interesting, shown from a unique perspective. I also want to cherish the way his heart, which had been dull until he met Kujima, gradually begins to warm up without him even realizing it!"
