Actor Yoshihiko Inohara attended the stage greetings at the pre-release event for the film "Beethoven Fabrication" (directed by Kazuaki Seki, scheduled for release on September 12th), starring Yuki Yamada, held in Tokyo on September 11th. At the event, it was announced that Inohara will be playing the role of Ries, Beethoven's former secretary, and he made a surprise appearance on stage for the rest of the cast.
Inohara commented, "I thought there would be a stage greeting, so I was messaging Yama-chan (Yamada) on LINE saying, 'Thank you for your hard work today.' But then I realized it was a surprise and thought, 'That's definitely not okay.' It was a close call."
Inohara and Yamada are close friends, having played buddies in the TV Asahi drama series "Tokuso9," in which Inohara starred. When Inohara revealed, "I really wanted to come because it's the eve of a movie starring my favorite Yama-chan," Yamada couldn't hide his surprise, saying, "I can't find the words right away. I'm so happy. I hadn't even broken a drop of sweat until just now, but now my back is completely soaked."
Looking back on his co-starring with Yamada, Inohara said, "I joined filming halfway through, so there was a bit of tension. Yamada was very considerate and stayed close to me the whole time like a manager. He said, 'The director was laughing so much,' and 'That was really funny,'"
Yamada savored his joy, saying, "I had always hoped that one day I would be able to co-star with Inohara in a starring role, so I'm so grateful that my dream has come true so soon. Thank you, I'm so grateful, I'm so grateful."
Also in attendance at the stage greeting were Arata Furuta, Shota Sometani, Fuju Kamio, Oshiro Maeda, Yukiyoshi Ozawa, and director Seki.
The film is a live-action adaptation of Shiho Kagehara's historical non-fiction book "Beethoven Fabrication: A Great Producer Lies" (Kawade Bunko). Bakarhythm wrote the screenplay, focusing on the scandal surrounding the discovery that Schindler, Beethoven's secretary and posthumous biography author, significantly altered Beethoven's phrasebook after he lost his hearing. Yamada stars as Schindler, the faithful secretary whose mission is to protect his idol, played by Furuta, as he struggles to transform Beethoven's image from a "vulgar, filthy old man" (truth) into a "divine, genius musician" (lie) after his death.
