It has been announced that voice actor Rikuya Yasuda will play the main character, Arisu Yamabuki, in the TV anime series "Tune In to the Midnight Heart," based on the romantic comedy manga by Masakuni Igarashi, currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha). Yasuda and the original and anime staff climbed Mount Fuji to see the sunrise as a prayer for the series' success, and a video of the climb was posted on YouTube.
Yasuda plays Yamabuki Arisu, a character who strives to support the heroines of the broadcasting club, who are working hard to achieve their dreams related to their voices, such as becoming singers, voice actresses, VTubers, and announcers. In the footage of the climb up Mount Fuji, Yasuda is seen saying, "As the main character, let's show our spirit and lead everyone!" Carrying the "Golden Iko Statue," a golden statue of one of the heroines, Kirino Iko, in a deformed cat form, and 600 "Mayochu 'Dream' Support Sticker" stubs from "AnimeJapan 2025," held in March this year, on which attendees and cast members wrote their dreams, she attempted to climb Mount Fuji for the first time in her life.
Yasuda and his staff climbed to the top of the mountain and, facing the beautiful morning glow and the rising sun shining through the gaps in the clouds, held up the "Golden Echo Statue" and "Dream" support stickers, demonstrating their passion for the project.
Yasuda commented, "I feel like I can hear a voice from somewhere saying, 'The voice actor in charge of this perfect Yamabuki voice must also be equally perfect,' so every time I play Arisu, I feel extremely tense. That's why I feel nervous, but the dubbing is really fun with each episode, so I hope that this atmosphere can be conveyed to everyone. Please watch along with me as Yamabuki Arisu chases after Apollo, the radio voice she has been searching for for many years, and the new 'dream' she found in the broadcasting club!"
"Tune In to the Midnight Heart" is a manga by Igarashi, who is also known for "Senryu Girl," which was adapted into a TV anime, and began serialization in the magazine in September 2023. Yamabuki Arisu, a second-year high school student, is searching for a radio broadcaster named Apollo, whose face and real name she does not know, and finds a clue in the broadcasting club of the high school she is attending. There she finds four beautiful girls who dream of "working in a job related to voice"... This is a romantic comedy that begins with "voice."
The anime will be directed by Masayuki Takahashi and produced by Gekko. The voice actors for the main heroines will be Momoko Seto as Inohana Rikka, Rumi Okubo as Himegawa Nene, Sayumi Suzushiro as Kirino Iko, and Miku Ito as Ugetsu Shinobu. It will be broadcast in 2026.
