NHK's program "Netsudan Playback," which tells the stories of the lives of heroes and heroines that everyone admires and shocking events that have shocked the world as "completely new storytelling," will broadcast "Indomitable Ski Jumper Harada Masahiko! A Story of Setbacks and Glory" on NHK General TV from 9:30 p.m. on January 12th.
The program will depict the inspiring life of Masahiko Harada, who captivated the world with his ski jumping, through rare footage and storytelling, climaxing with the 1998 Nagano Olympics.
At the time, Harada was expected to be "Japan's ace in the future," but he faced a rival, and so he decided to take on a risky challenge using a "V-jump," which was not common at the time.
He was in top form at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympics, but then he failed. His wife's words woke him up as he struggled at rock bottom... And then came the Nagano Olympics. Amidst the heavy snowstorm, he lost momentum again. The nightmare from four years ago flashed through his mind.
And then the moment came. Will it be a miraculous big jump? Storyteller Kanda Haruhi reads it out with passion.
