Akari Takaishi plays the heroine in the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others). In the 71st episode (broadcast on January 12th), Toki (Takaishi) and Heaven (Tommy Bastow) move into a luxurious new home, and we spoke to Hashizume Kuniomi, the production manager, about the attention to detail that went into the set.
Toki, Heaven, Tsukasanosuke(Takashi Okabe), and Fumi (Chizuru Ikewaki) will be living in the new house, which also offers a view of Matsue Castle. The Matsuno family members were excited about the spacious living room, kitchen, toilet, and bathroom.
Regarding the set of the new house, Hashizume said, "We put a lot of effort into it," and revealed, "Yakumo Koizumi's former home still remains in Matsue, and we recreated it relatively faithfully."
"The art staff also went to the location, took measurements, and were shown blueprints. Of course, since it's a set, there are limitations to the size of the studio, but we've recreated it as faithfully as possible."
At Yakumo Koizumi's former home in Matsue, his study and garden are open to the public, but the bathroom and kitchen, which also appear in the drama's dialogue, are not.
Hashizume said, "We were given special permission to enter these places, and we have recreated as many of the parts that are not open to the public as possible. I hope that people will watch the drama and get the feeling that 'this is what it was like to live in a place like this.'"
The garden of the former residence also features a magnificent Crape Myrtle tree, which has been recreated on the set. Yakumo's great-grandson, Bon Koizumi, revealed that he also came to see the set, saying, "He was impressed, saying, 'It really does look like it.' It has been recreated down to the smallest detail, so I think it will be really fun for people to compare it with the former residence."
