Meru Nukumi is active as a model and actor. In recent years, she has expanded her horizons to the big screen, and will be appearing as the heroine with outstanding singing ability in the film "The Last Song You Left" (directed by Miki Takahiro), which will be released on March 20th. We spoke to Meruru, who is sure to be active this year, at a formal wear photo shoot held by her agency, Avex Management.
In the film "The Last Song You Left Behind," she sings and plays the guitar. After about a year and a half of training, she faced her first challenge with the guitar. "My teacher told me that it's important to touch the guitar every day, so I put it in the entrance hall and made sure to play it when I got home. It was my first attempt, so I was a bit worried about whether I could do it, but I persevered!" she recalls.
Regarding her singing voice, she said, "I'm embarrassed, so I haven't been able to listen to it seriously yet," but she is positive, saying, "I'm looking forward to everyone's reaction." She smiles and says, "I feel like I've finally been able to do a singing job that is Avex-like." However, when asked about her debut as a singer, she said with a wry smile, "That's a heavy burden."
At the formal wear photo shoot, she chose "Running Up" as the theme for 2026. "Being a year of the pigeon, I want to keep working without stopping or taking a break. I want to do all the work I'm given," she said with a smile. She has the energy to "work, work, and work," but she also spoke of how fulfilled she is, saying, "I really love my job, so even when I'm busy, I enjoy it."
She is also conscious of her work in her private life. "I realized that I needed physical strength to work, so last year I started going to the gym and doing Pilates. I hadn't done any exercise before, so I think I'm doing something model-like," she said with a laugh.
Although she currently only has one day off per month, she is enthusiastic and says, "I can still work." Her ideal situation would be to be "so busy with work that I don't have time to think about what to do!"
Although there wasn't a day last year when he wasn't seen in the media, he said it was "a year of preparation with a lot of filming going on." With the release and broadcast of the series continuing in 2026, it looks like we'll be seeing even more of him in action.
