It was revealed on May 26th that the drama series "Kyojo" starring actor Takuya Kimura will be adapted into a movie. Kimura, director Nakae Isao, and screenwriter Kimizuka Ryoichi, who have worked on the series, will reunite for the film. The movie is scheduled to be released in 2026.
Hiroki Nagaoka's mystery novel series "Kyojo," which realistically depicts the reality of police academies, has sold over 1.3 million copies. Fuji TV aired "Kyojo" (2020) and "Kyojo II" (2021) as its New Year's special dramas, and the appearance of the strict instructor, Kimichika Kazama (played by Kimura), who has graying hair and a prosthetic right eye, attracted a lot of attention.
In "Kyojo" and "Kyojo II," Kazama used his sharp eyes to see through the various doubts, conflicts, and secrets that arose among the students, sifting through them and handing them their withdrawal notices one after the other. It will be interesting to see what kind of students will appear in the film.
In 2023, the same network will broadcast "Kazama Koushin - Kyojo 0", a drama depicting Kazama's past, in its Getsuku slot. It also reveals Kazama's tragic past, in which he lost his right eye and his partner, as well as his connection with murderer Tozaki Haru (Mirai Moriyama). In the final episode of the drama, Tozaki appears before Kazama, raising expectations for the outcome of their showdown.
Information such as the film title, release date, and cast will be announced in the future.
