Shuto Inomata, a new member of the much talked about 8-member group "timelesz", appeared on TV Asahi's variety show "Nika Game" (Tuesdays at 2:55am, Kanto local) on April 1st. His "shocking answer" to an English quiz drew attention.
A new program for TV Asahi's monthly variety slot "Barabara Monthly" in April. This is the first terrestrial TV program hosted by Takashi Nikaido of the popular group "Kis-My-Ft2." Nikaido, who is not good at English, challenges himself to a "super basic English" game with Inomata and Matsui Kemuri, a graduate of Keio University. The show is being broadcast with the full cooperation of the Korean drama "Squid Game" (Netflix), which is the parody of the show.
On the 1st broadcast, the three participants played the game "Daruma-san ga Koronda" in which they tried to reach the goal by answering the pronunciation of super basic English words found around town. The first question was "TOY". Nikaido got the answer right for this very basic English word, but Inomata's answer was "Toya".
Matsui was shocked by the answer and exclaimed, "This level?!" Nikaido also exclaimed, "That's crazy! I've found someone even crazier than me..."
The second question was "HERO". Inomata was confident in his answer, saying, "That's pretty basic, isn't it?", but the answer he gave was "Hello". Once again, he was the only one to get the answer wrong, and Matsui looked up to the sky, while Nikaido was at a loss for words, saying, "That's bad..."
In response to Inomata's answer, viewers on social media responded with comments such as, "I was shocked by Inomata's English ability from the beginning," "I want to applaud the person who cast Inomata. It's rare to find someone with English skills that can amaze Nika-chan (lol)," "Inomata's English was also incredibly funny," and "I'm starting to worry that Inomata's English ability is causing him trouble in his daily life."
