The third episode of the TV drama "Secret ~THE TOP SECRET~" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm), starring actor Rihito Itagaki and Yuto Nakajima from the popular group Hey! Say! JUMP , will be aired on February 10th.
The drama is based on Shimizu Reiko's "Secret - Top Secret" published in the manga magazine "Melody" (Hakusensha) and its spin-off work "Secret Season 0". The script is written by Sato Tsumako, who has worked on the "Unfair" series (same network) and the movie "Onmyoji 0" (2024). The story is set in the Forensic Science Laboratory No. 9, commonly known as "No. 9". Itagaki plays Maki Tsuyoshi, head of the No. 9 laboratory, while Nakajima plays Suzuki Katsuhiro, a former member of No. 9 who lost his life in an incident, and Aoki Ikko, a rookie investigator who looks just like Suzuki and is later assigned to No. 9.
In the second episode, Kainuma Kiyotaka (Kunimura Jun), a brain scientist whom Maki respects, takes his own life. Suzuki (Nakajima) decides to use an MRI to look at Kainuma's brain. A few days later, as Maki heads to the MRI investigation room, he hears the sound of a gunshot. When Maki rushes over, she finds Suzuki and the other investigators collapsed, and Kainuma's horrifying secret is displayed on the monitor. One month later, a convenience store employee, Kojima Ikuko (Ikewaki Chizuru), stabs a colleague to death... and so the story unfolds.
In the third episode, three years after Suzuki's death after seeing Kainuma's MRI, a new investigator is assigned to "The 9th". Maki is speechless when she sees the face of the new investigator, Aoki Kazuyuki (played by Nakajima in a dual role), who came to "The 9th" because he admired Maki (played by Itagaki). He looks just like the deceased Suzuki.
Meanwhile, nine boys commit suicide one after another in different locations on the same day, and "The Ninth" decides to investigate the case with an MRI. It turns out that all nine boys are minors and were in the same juvenile detention center. Aoki immediately watches the MRI image of the boy's brain who jumped off the roof of a station building, and is surprised at how clear the image is. However, he witnesses the boy being chased by another boy and jumping off the building.
"It's not suicide!" Aoki cries out, and while receiving advice from investigators Okabe (Takahashi Tsutomu) and others, he looks at the MRI images of the remaining boys' brains. Aoki learns that MRI images can even show hallucinations and delusions, but soon realizes that all the boys had a common experience... and so the story unfolds.
Episode 3 will feature Kamino Misuzu as Aoki's mother, Chie, Satsuga Manami as Aoki's older sister, Kuratsuji Wakako, and Serizawa Koji as Wakako's husband, Kuratsuji Masanobu.
