It has been revealed that the theatrical pre-release version of the latest work in the popular anime series "Gundam," "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX (Geaku Axe)," titled "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX -Beginning-," topped the movie attendance rankings from January 24 to 26 (surveyed by Kogyo Tsushinsha). The theatrical pre-release version began screening in 426 theaters, including IMAX screenings, on January 17, and also topped the movie attendance rankings from January 17 to 19, making it the second consecutive week that it has topped the rankings.
"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX" is also a hot topic as it is the first collaboration between Sunrise, which is responsible for the "Gundam" series, and Khara, known for the "Evangelion" series. The TV anime series is broadcast on the Nippon Television Network, and a pre-broadcast version of some episodes was released in theaters on January 17th.
In the three days since its release on January 17, the film grossed approximately 599 million yen. It got off to a good start with an audience of approximately 352,500 people.
