It has been announced that the three-member unit Perfume will be performing the theme song for Season 3 of the TV anime series "To Your Eternity, " based on the manga by Yoshitoki Oima. The members are fans of "To Your Eternity," so they readily accepted the offer. The theme song is titled "Fumetsu no Anata" and was written by the unit's sound producer, Yasutaka Nakata. The announcement was made at the anime event "AnimeNYC 2025," currently being held in New York, USA.
Perfume's A-chan commented, "Each of us had read the original manga and watched the anime, so when we heard about the offer we immediately said yes. I think it turned out to be a great song! ' To Your Eternity' has a philosophical theme, with many iterations of 'life and death', but the strength of humans to overcome sadness and pain really resonates in the heart. With the theme song, I feel like our voices are louder than usual, like we're singing louder...at least that's how it goes. I'm really looking forward to Season 3."
Kashiyuka said, "I cry every time I read the manga...The opening video for Season 3 was like a slideshow, and I was moved to tears as I thought about the memories Fushi has made with his friends up to that point. I was happy that the song we sang fit so well with the world of ' To Your Eternity'. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to Fushi from now on. But I love him so much that I'm worried (laughs)."
Nocchi said, "I became hooked on ' To Your Eternity' after reading the manga and watching the anime, and recommended it to the other members. It's a work that I have a lot of attachment to, so when I heard the title of the song was 'Fumetsu no Anata' I felt really honored to sing it! In the real world, the setting of Season 3, there should be peace with no battles with enemies like in the past, but it seems that Fushi and his friends have different worries...But I want Fushi to keep smiling as much as possible."
It was also announced that season 3 will be broadcast on NHK General TV every Saturday at 11:45 pm starting October 4th.
"To Your Eternity" began serialization in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in October 2016, and reached its final chapter in June of this year, bringing the series to a close after eight and a half years. The story follows Fushi, who has the ability to transform into the form of any object he is stimulated by, and to regenerate even after death. He transforms from a ball to a pebble, a wolf, and a boy, learning about life and emotions from the people he meets, and growing as a person.
Season 1 of the TV anime aired on NHK Educational TV from April to August 2021, and Season 2 from October 2022 to March 2023.
