The program "Platinum Family: A Glimpse into the Lives of a Glamorous Family" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 7pm *excluding some regions) introduces the lifestyles of "glamorous families." On June 30th, the program will air a "Platinum Family & Tuesday's Yoshizumi Kotaro Combined Special," in which Chisako Takashima will visit the mansion of a beauty legend living in Los Angeles, USA.
Takashima's celebrity friend is the principal of a vocational school that was founded 92 years ago and has produced over 210,000 graduates. Her grandmother is known as a pioneer in the beauty industry who spread perm techniques in Japan.
Born and raised in the United States, she came to Japan at the age of 12 and, despite not knowing Japanese, became the principal of the school at a young age. Since then, she has reformed the curriculum to allow students to learn a wide range of "beauty" skills, including nail art and kimono dressing, in addition to hairdressing techniques. Currently, the school offers overseas training at popular hair salons in Beverly Hills and special effects makeup studios in Hollywood, expanding the opportunities for students to work on a global scale.
Her home is a magnificent mansion boasting an astonishing 6LDKSS layout. The spacious living room and comfortable dining room are particularly impressive, and the guest room, where Ms. Takashima has stayed, even has its own private living room. The interior is adorned with Japanese items such as Shigaraki ware ornaments and kimonos, creating a home that exudes a deep love for Japanese culture while maintaining an American-style sense of openness.
The book also reveals the journey she took, born and raised in the United States, yet venturing into the beauty industry without knowing Japanese, and bearing the heavy responsibilities she has carried along the way.
