It has been revealed that a second season of the TV anime "Atelier of Witch Hat," based on the manga by Kamome Shirahama, is in production. The announcement of the second season's production was made when the 13th and final episode of the first season aired on TOKYO MX and other channels on June 29th. An end card drawn by the original author, Shirahama, was also released. The end card features all of the Atelier members, including Coco.
Shirahama commented, "Congratulations on the production of the second season of the anime, and thank you very much. I am happy to say that the magical show by the wonderful production team is far from over, and it seems they will show us the continuation in the highest quality! I think viewers were surprised and thought, 'What! It ends here!?' But as the original author, I would like to give my seal of approval that it is worth waiting for! Let's wait together with anticipation for the culmination of the dedication and passion that so many magicians have created!"
Director Ayumu Watanabe said, "Thank you for watching the first season! The magic that Coco and her friends weave with each stroke of their brush. We too have carefully built each episode, staying close to the story. And that will continue. The story will become bigger and deeper, speaking to Coco and her friends about learning and discovering magic. New locations will appear. Characters that Coco and her friends will encounter. The magic will deepen in meaning as they learn about the world...! We too will put even more heart into it, and we will draw it with excitement for the adventure. Please look forward to it!"
The jacket illustration for the second volume of the anime's Blu-ray disc has also been revealed. It features a beautiful illustration of Keyfrey and Olugio, newly drawn by Shirahama. The first volume will be released on July 29th, and the second volume on September 30th.
