Former Morning Musume member and talent Ai Kago will appear on the variety show "Failed Teacher: Don't Be Like Me Year-End 1-Hour Special" (TV Asahi, excluding some regions), which will be broadcast on December 30th from 11:40 pm. After being offered the role by the show for over 10 years, Ai Kago has finally accepted the offer. She will give a lecture as "a teacher who fell to ruin after smoking underage twice," and make her "first complete confession" about the truth behind the scandal.
When Kago-san appeared in the classroom to Morning Musume's smash hit "LOVE Machine," the students exclaimed in surprise, "There she is! Kago-chan!!" and "Could this be the final episode?" Kago-san began the lesson by saying, "It's finally come, the day to tell this story..."
Kago joined Morning Musume at the age of 12 in 2000 and quickly became a top star. She was so popular as the "nation's little sister character" that she became a high-income taxpayer at the age of 14. In 2004, at the age of 16, she graduated from Morning Musume and performed with Tsuji Nozomi as part of the duo "W (Double U)." However, she was involved in two scandals involving underage smoking, in 2006 when she was 18 and in 2007 when she was 19, which led to her being dismissed by her agency and her hiatus from showbiz.
In class, she reveals the truth about why she made two "big mistakes." She went from being a national idol to hitting rock bottom, and was lost in life, saying, "I was always regretting the smoking scandal and couldn't move forward..." But she also talks about how she got back on her feet and how she was able to dream again.
In addition to the regular cast members Masayasu Wakabayashi (role of the teacher), Yu Sawabe (role of the students), Takashi Yoshimura, and others, Mitsuho Fukudome, Mitsuru Mangrove, and Yuchami will appear as guests. From 12:40 a.m. immediately after the end of the terrestrial broadcast, the program will be available for free streaming on ABEMA for one week (and will be available for a fee for three years after that).
