It was announced on December 11th that the rock band back number will be appearing on the White Team at the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen Gassen, which will be broadcast on New Year's Eve. This will be their second appearance, roughly three years after the 73rd Kouhaku Uta Gassen in 2022.
Formed in 2004, back number has gained popularity, with the 30 songs they have released to date having been streamed over 100 million times. They have also announced that they will be holding their biggest stadium tour to date, with an audience of 500,000 people, in 2026.
At the Kohaku Uta Gassen, they will perform two songs: "Just Do It," which was chosen as the theme song for NHK Winter Sports, and their signature song "Horizon."
Vocalist Shimizu Iori commented, "I'm so happy that the three of us will be standing on the Kohaku Uta Gassen stage again, and I'm feeling excited. We'll be performing two songs that are extremely important to us, so please support us on New Year's Eve."
The theme of the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen is "Connecting, Connecting, New Year's Eve," and it will be hosted by Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Haruka Ayase, Mio Imada, and announcer Naoko Suzuki. It will be broadcast from 7:20 pm to 11:45 pm on December 31st (with some news breaks).
