NHK's popular nature program "Darwin's Coming!" (NHK General) will air a special episode titled "A Tour to Experience the 'Super Vision' of Living Things" on June 28th at 7:30 PM. The program will thoroughly visualize the "super vision" of living things that surpasses human comprehension. It will also feature a major experiment conducted via television, allowing viewers to experience the "world seen through sound" of bats.
In the natural world, there are creatures that "see" the world through sound and heat, such as honeybees that can see ultraviolet light, snakes that can sense the temperature of their prey, and eagles with eyesight several times that of humans. But we don't really know how they see. What if we thoroughly visualized the "super vision" of such creatures that defies human comprehension using special equipment and experiments...?
This time, we're also trying something unprecedented. We'll be conducting a fun experiment via television to let viewers experience the senses of bats, who "see" the world using ultrasound.
