It has been announced that a music video (MV) collaboration between Akutami Gege's manga "Jujutsu Kaisen," serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), and the song "SPECIALZ" by the band "King Gnu" will be released on YouTube at 7pm on October 31st. The song is the opening theme for the second season of the TV anime "Shibuya Incident," and the MV will be released at 7pm on October 31st, the time when the Shibuya Incident occurred in the series.
The collaboration MVs are "JUMP MV / "Jujutsu Kaisen" x "SPECIALZ" | King Gnu - Eyes of Disaster" and "JUMP MV / "Jujutsu Kaisen" x "SPECIALZ" | King Gnu - Eyes of Restoration". The videos focus on both those who cast curses and those who exorcise them.
"Jujutsu Kaisen" began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in March 2018. The story is about a high school student, Yuji Itadori, who is thrown into a world of battles over curses after a powerful "cursed object" is unsealed. The final chapter was published in the 44th issue of the serialized magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump" on September 30th, bringing the curtain down on the approximately six and a half years of serialization. The comic series has sold over 100 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2020 to March 2021. The movie version "Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie", a prequel to the first season, was released in December 2021 and was a huge hit, earning approximately 13.75 billion yen in domestic box office revenue and approximately 26.5 billion yen in worldwide box office revenue. The second season of the TV anime aired from July to December 2023. There is also talk of a sequel to the second season, "Death Resurrection". A compilation of the second season, "Kaitama and Tamaori," will be produced and released in theaters in 2025.
