An event for the anime "ONE PIECE," based on Eiichiro Oda's popular manga, was held at Jump Festa 2026 at Makuhari Messe (Mihama-ku, Chiba City), and Oda sent a message.
After touching on the anime, the Hollywood live-action version, and the animated film, he said that as the "original story," "It's a long, long flashback, so to speak, where you learn a little bit of history before returning to the present day, and just when you think your view of Elbaf may have changed, it ends with a bang! And from here on out, it gets tough." He continued, "To that island that only the Pirate King could reach!? The Cypress Man also makes an appearance!! The two who never met finally meet!! He and that one also meet!! Maybe next year will be a festival of encounters?"
He concluded by saying, "The story moves fast, but unfortunately I have gotten old, so I will be taking care of my life and will continue to sail at the highest speed in ONE PIECE next year. It's a festival ahead!! Please look forward to it!!!"
"ONE PIECE" depicts the adventures of Luffy, a young man with a straw hat whose limbs are stretchy like rubber, as he and his crew embark on an adventure across the ocean in pursuit of becoming the Pirate King. The series began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1997. The comics have sold over 510 million copies worldwide. The TV anime series began airing in 1999, and October 2024 marked the 25th anniversary of its broadcast. In April of this year, the broadcast time slot was moved from 9:30 AM on Sundays to 11:15 PM on Sundays.
