The final of the M-1 Grand Prix 2025 (ABC TV/TV Asahi), a contest to determine the best manzai comedian in Japan, was broadcast live from TV Asahi (Minato-ku, Tokyo) on December 21st, with the comedy duo Yarens performing their material as the opening act.
Having advanced to the finals three times in a row, Yarens was chosen as the first batter by the "Emikuji" lottery drawn by judo player Uta Abe. They performed a talk-style manzai routine with a lot of boke (funny jokes) and tsukkomi (comedian sarcasm), and comedian Maki Narahara exclaimed, "We're confident!" The result was "843 points." Judges Reiji of "Nakagawa-ke" and Nobuyuki Hanawa of "Knights" praised them as "the perfect first batter."
The nine groups that will be competing in the finals this year are "Shinkuu Jessica," who has made it to the finals for five consecutive years, "Yarens," who has made it to the finals for three consecutive years, "Evers," who placed fourth last year, "Mama Tart," who placed tenth last year, "Yoneda 2000," who are making it to the finals for the first time in three years, and "Gokai Captain," "Maison," "Takurou," and "Dondecollete," who are making it to the finals for the first time. Additionally, "Kaname Stone," who won the losers' bracket, will be on the final stage.
