Ryuya Shishigosan, a member of the popular group "Travis Japan," attended a press conference for the TV Asahi drama "The Reason We Fall in Love" (Saturdays at 11 p.m., starting October 12th) at the TV Asahi headquarters (Minato Ward, Tokyo). There was a scene where he told his co-star Yamazaki Hirona, "I love you."
The press conference was attended by six main cast members, including lead actor Kikuchi Fuma, Kumagaya Rinka, Shishigosan, Saito Nagisa, and Yoshihisa Hajime. A "heart-pounding contest" was held to see who could make the women's hearts pound the most.
While each of them was throwing "heart-pounding lines" at the women who play their co-stars in the play, Shishigosan confessed to Yamazaki, "There's something I want to tell you. I love Ichikawa-san (character's name) who always has a wonderful smile. I want to be with you forever. Will you go out with me?" Yamazaki blushed and replied, "The rest will be in the drama (laughs)!"
When it was announced who they had the most crush on, Kikuchi received one vote from her co-star Kumada, but Shichigosan received none. Yamazaki, who voted for Yoshihisa, explained, "(Kikuchi and Shichigosan) were good, but they both said directly that they liked each other. When Yoshihisa said, 'Please join me in training,' it means 'I like you,' right? It's an artistic point, like when Ayaka says, 'The moon is beautiful, isn't it?' It means love."
Although she followed up by saying, "But for (the actress) Ayaka, it's Sakamoto-kun (Shichigosan)!", Shichigosan seemed a little disappointed, saying, "I couldn't decide... I'm so embarrassed."
The drama is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name (Cream Puff) by ma2, which won the grand prize in the adult romance category of the 2nd Everyone's Favorite Romance Manga Awards (2023), and depicts the office love affairs of six men and women.
