In the 45th episode (aired on May 29th) of the NHK Asadora drama series "Kaze,Kaoru " (NHK General, Monday-Saturday, 8:00 AM, etc.), Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , what scene captivated viewers the most? We examined the minute-by-minute changes in "attention level" (according to REVISIO, Kanto region, preliminary figures), which indicates the percentage of viewers glued to the screen, and found that the peak was 73.3% at 8:12 AM.
" Kaze,Kaoru" is based on the story of two trained nurses, Chika Ozeki and Masa Suzuki, who graduated from the same nursing school. The drama depicts how these two women struggle with how to interact with patients and doctors, clash with each other, grow as individuals, and eventually become the "ultimate buddy duo." Mikami plays Rin Ichinose, and Uesaka plays Naomi Oya.
The data used is REVISIO's proprietary "Attention Level" index (Kanto region, preliminary figures), which surveys program and commercial viewing habits in 2,000 households in the Kanto region and 600 households in the Kansai region. A dedicated device equipped with a human recognition sensor constantly measures whether people are looking at the television screen, and calculates the percentage of people in front of the television who were paying close attention to the program.
◇Naomi hears information about her "mother" from Kanta.
In episode 45, Naomi (Uesaka) meets Kanta (Fujiwara Kisetsu) at Yoshie's (Harada Taizo) church. She hears about "Yunagi," who is believed to be his mother. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Fuyu (Nekozawa Tsubaki) offers to teach Rin (Mikami) how to assist in surgery. In response to this, the relationship between the nurses and the nursing trainees begins to change little by little.
The level of attention on this day began to rise slowly after the opening credits, when the theme song played, peaked in the middle to the end of the show, and then gradually declined. It was a graph that drew a single large "mountain," and what's more, the "peak" of the "mountain" lasted for five minutes, which is quite unusual.
◇A 5-minute film depicting the changing relationship between a nursing assistant and a nursing trainee.
The peak of the graph for the 45th episode was the five-minute period from 8:08 AM to 8:12 AM, when the percentage remained above 70%. These five minutes perfectly depicted the significant change in the relationship between the caregiver and the nursing trainee, which was also the theme of Week 9, "The Caregiver and the Candy."
The 8:08 AM mark saw a sudden jump of approximately four points, reaching 71.0%, immediately following the scene in the nurses' station where Fuyu offers to teach Rin how to assist in surgery. As her fellow nurses look on in surprise, Fuyu calmly says, "Because I realized it would make things easier for me," and then adds to Rin, "Ame was happy. My husband was. Thank you." Fuyu's performance, as she forces herself to maintain a stiff expression and avoid showing a smile, is particularly memorable.
In the following scene, Dr. Burns (Emma Howard), who hasn't been seen in a while, begins to look around the hospital. First, Izumi Kiyo (Akiko Kikuchi), who had confessed in episode 43 that she was divorced because she couldn't have children, is confronted by the nurse Miura Tsuya (Ayaka Higashino), who had been at odds with her until now, and she confides in Kiyo, saying, "Me too. I was divorced because I couldn't have children. I'm here for the money." Kiyo's response to this is excellent: "For the money... Is that all?" The conversation between the teary-eyed Tsuya and the gently watching Kiyo continues until around 8:09 a.m., and the viewership rating rises even further to 72.8%.
At 8:10 AM (72.6%), Shinobu Yanagida (Akira Kigoshi) is carefully cutting gauze with scissors when nurse Yoshi Sunaga (Mayumi Myojo) demonstrates a method of cutting by first making an incision with scissors and then tearing it apart with her hands. Yoshi continues to make sarcastic remarks to Shinobu, such as "Are you a rich kid or something!", but Shinobu doesn't back down. It was clear that a sense of mutual respect was beginning to develop between the two of them.
From the latter half of 8:10 AM to 8:11 AM (72.8%), Rin is shown assisting in surgery in the operating room. Of course, Fuyu is still with her, giving precise instructions to Rin when she hesitates. After the surgery is finished, the two talk while putting away the instruments. Rin says, "Fuyu, it's a shame you dislike this job," to which Fuyu replies with a smile, "I don't like it, but I do as much as I can. I don't hate it as much as I used to." It seems that she no longer "hates" it thanks to Rin and Naomi.
◇The peak was Mr. Burns' "good!"
And the level of attention, which had been gradually increasing even during the five minutes at the "peak," reached its highest point of the day at 73.3% at 8:12 AM.
"You know, if you don't approach this job like housework, you'll make mistakes." 8:12 AM begins with these mysterious words from Fuyu to Rin. Rin retorts, "Nursing is a job that deals with life and death, unlike housework..." but Fuyu leaves without saying anything further.
The next scene shows Yuki Shinonome (Tomomi Nakai) crying because she senses that her patient is nearing death, and Tome Kudo (Rin Harashima) comforting her. Dr. Burns is also watching this scene.
And that night, as the nursing interns were having dinner in the dormitory, she said to them, "The hospital has changed a lot since I last visited today," and each of them smiled and replied, "Good!" It was a good moment, a fitting conclusion to the five minutes. (Text by Hiroki Sasamoto/MANTANWEB)
