On June 24, entertainer Tamori (80) appeared at a press conference in Tokyo to announce his joining as the new MC for NHK's intellectual exploration entertainment program "Tamori & Shinya Yamanaka's!? (Surprise Mystery)" (NHK General).
The program started in July of last year with Tamori, Shinya Yamanaka, and Riho Yoshioka. Yoshioka left the show as MC on the March 7th broadcast this year. Singer MISIA will join as MC from the July 4th broadcast at 7:30 p.m., in an episode titled "What is the Universe?", and together with Tamori and Yamanaka, she will explore the mysteries of life and science from a new perspective.
Since the next theme is "space," when asked what he would like to do in space, Tamori replied, "At my age, I don't think I'll go to space. I'd like to spend the rest of my life peacefully on Earth (laughs)," which drew laughter from the audience.
The show will soon be celebrating its first anniversary, and he commented, "The content is really difficult, and it gets softer during the planning stages, but during the actual broadcast, even if I use my brain to its fullest capacity, it's too much for me to keep up with as I get older. Professor Yamanaka is my saving grace, and I rely on him wholeheartedly. I've forgotten almost everything (from the previous episodes). My brain is really starting to fail (laughs)."
