It has been revealed that voice actors Takuya Eguchi, Houchu Otaka, and Aya Hirano will appear in the original animated film Touch (released October 4th) directed by Tatsuyuki Nagai, known for popular anime films such as Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day (Anohana) and The Anthem of the Heart (Kokosake). The roles each will play will not be revealed until the film is released. It was also announced that a 4D (MX4D/4DX) version of the film will be screened. The screenplay for this film is by Mari Okada, who also wrote the screenplay for Anohana, Kokosake, and Hito Yo: The Blue Sky of the Sky (Sora Ao), with character design by Masayoshi Tanaka, and this is the first time that a work by these three will be screened in 4D.
New footage and cuts focusing on the friendship between the protagonists' three childhood friends, Aki Onoda, Ryo Sobue, and Yuta Inohara, have also been released. The video shows the friendship between three people who are connected by the telepathic power of the mysterious creature "Tureru" as it fluctuates greatly. An incident triggers the gradual revelation of another hidden power of "Tureru," and the meaningful catchphrase "Is this friendship real?" is played. The new cut depicts the growth and youth of the three people from their childhood until they move to Tokyo.
"Tureru" is the story of childhood friends Aki Onoda, Ryo Sobue, and Yuta Inohara, who grew up on the same island, who move to Tokyo at the age of 20 and start living together in Takadanobaba, Tokyo. Aki works part-time at a bar, Ryo is a new graduate at a real estate company, and Yuta is a vocational school student aspiring to be a fashion designer. Although their lives are all different, their hearts are always connected by the special power of "Tureru," and each person's words flow into each other's minds even without being spoken. The friendship between the three people connected by "Tureru" changes due to the hidden "another power." Nagase Ren, Bando Ryuta, and Maeda Kentaro will play the main characters Aki, Ryo, and Yuta, respectively.
