A Teaser trailer for the film "The World of Marty Supreme" (directed by Josh Safdie, scheduled for release on March 13, 2026), starring actor Timothée Chalamet, was released on December 19th.
The story is set in 1950s New York and is inspired by the life of real-life table tennis player Marty Reisman. Marty Mouser is a talented table tennis player who dreams of becoming a world champion in an America where table tennis is not very popular. He earns money to compete in the World Championships while working at a relative's shoe store. After losing to a Japanese player at the World Championships in London, Marty tries every possible way to earn money to compete in the next World Championships in Japan, beat Reisman, and become the world's best.
In addition to Chalamet playing the lead role of Marty, the film also stars Gwyneth Paltrow as Kay, a famous retired American actress, Tyler the Creator as Marty's friend, Odessa Azion as Marty's girlfriend, and Kevin O'Leary as Kay's husband, Milton.
The film, which was also shot in Japan, also stars Kawaguchi Isao, a member of the Japanese table tennis team for the Tokyo 2025 Deaflympics, as Endo, a Japanese player who becomes Marty's greatest rival.
The Teaser trailer, which uses never-before-seen footage from the film, begins with Marty's powerful line, "I have a purpose," and includes a table tennis scene with Endo, played by Kawaguchi. It also includes a passionate kiss with his girlfriend Rachel, his best friend Wally making a fortune, a money dispute with a man, and Rachel calling him a "narcissistic bastard!"
