A promotional video for Hathaway Noa, the protagonist of the second chapter of the popular animated film Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash(directed by Murase Shukou), Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash anime series, entitled "The Life of Hathaway Noa," has been released on YouTube.
Hathaway is influenced by the ideals of Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, and despite his own struggles, he strives to stick to his own beliefs. Born as the eldest son of Bright Noa and Mirai Yashima, who met by fate in the 1979 broadcast of Mobile Suit Gundam, he first appeared in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, broadcast in 1985. In the 1988 release of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, he experienced an event that dramatically changed his values, which he passed on to "Hathaway's Flash." Chapter 1 depicts his encounter with Gigi Andalusia, and in Chapter 2, that encounter dramatically changes Hathaway's destiny.
It was also announced that a special program, "Gundam Channel New Year Special 2026," will be streamed on the official Gundam YouTube channel, "Gundam Channel," at 7 PM on January 18, 2026. Kensho Ono, who voices Hathaway Noah, and Reina Ueda, who voices Gigi Andalusia, will serve as MCs, while Shinji Kawada, who voices Sharia Bull from "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," and Yuki Shin, who voices Char, will take on "Gundam Channel Cooking." Voice actor Genki Okawa will take on the "Gundam Q (Quiz) Strategy."
"Hathaway's Flash" is based on a novel published in 1989-90 by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, known as the creator of the "Gundam" series. Set in the year 0105 of the Universal Century, Hathaway, the son of Bright Noa, who experienced a bitter separation during the Second Neo Zeon War, pilots a new mobile suit, the XI Gundam, and rises up in rebellion against the Earth Federation government.
It has been announced that the anime will be made up of three chapters, with the first, released in June 2021, being a hit, grossing approximately 2.23 billion yen at the box office. The second chapter, "Circe's Witch," will be directed by Murase Shukou, who also directed "Genocidal Organ," and will feature voice actors such as Kensho Ono as Hathaway, Reina Ueda as Gigi Andalusia, Junichi Suwabe Soma Saito as Lane Aim. It will be released in 426 theaters, including IMAX, on January 30, 2026.
