On September 11th, actress Tao Tsuchiya appeared at a global fan event for season 3 of the drama "Alice in Borderland," which will begin streaming on the video streaming service Netflix from the 25th.
Regarding the arrival of Season 3, Tsuchiya said, "I am truly overwhelmed with emotion. After filming Seasons 1 and 2, I thought that it would be the perfect end, so I am really happy. I am happy to think that we can finally deliver it to everyone, but I also feel a little sad... But I am still excited. I hope you enjoy the more powerful Season 3 of Borderlands."
He also reflected on the time when Season 1 was being produced, saying, "It began in 2020, when the world was shrouded in anxiety. It was hard to believe my eyes when I saw that the Shibuya Scramble Crossing had truly become deserted." He continued, "This work has been able to walk this path together with its viewers from that time until now. Season 3 is both a final summary and a start. We've poured a lot of love, skill, and prayer into it, so please receive it."
"Alice in Borderland" is based on the manga of the same name by Haro Aso (Shogakukan). The story follows Arisu Ryohei (Alice), played by Kento Kento Yamazaki, and the heroine Usagi Yuzuha (Rabbit), played by Tsuchiya, as they take on a life-threatening "game" in order to return to their original world.
Season 3 is set four years after Alice and the Rabbit won all the "games" in Borderland and returned to their original world. The couple were married and living happily ever after, but one day, the Rabbit suddenly disappears, guided by a man named Ryuji (Kento Kaku), who is researching the afterlife. In despair, Vanda (Hayato Isomura), who has become a resident of Borderland, appears before Alice and tells her that the Rabbit has returned to Borderland. In order to get the Rabbit back, Alice sets foot into Borderland once again and takes on a life-threatening "game."
Tsuchiya commented on the highlights of the season, saying, "In season 3, we will be playing the game as a married couple, so I think that will be a big difference from the previous seasons."
Also attending the event were Yamazaki, Hayato Isomura, Miyoshi Ayaka, Maikuma Katsuya, Sudo Risa, Ikeuchi Hiroyuki, Tina Tamashiro, Daigo Kotaro, Genri, Sakura Kiryu, Kento Kaku, and director Sato Shinsuke.
