The lineup for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi, Monday-Friday 1pm), which will air from June 22nd to 26th, has been announced. The episodes airing on the 22nd will feature mountaineer Eiko Noguchi, on the 23rd creative director Izumi Ogino, on the 24th model Ken Mitsuishi, on the 25th actor Ken Mitsuishi, and on the 26th actor Hayato Kakizawa.
Noguchi's father is the world-renowned mountaineer Ken Noguchi. Following in his footsteps, she summited three 6,000-meter-class Himalayan mountains in her twenties. She won the Miss Japan Grand Prix this year and is also involved in volunteer activities around the world.
Ms. Ogino is the creative director of Anteprima, a brand that captivates women with its "wire bags." She was a full-time housewife in her twenties, but moved to Hong Kong in her thirties. After gaining experience in the fashion business, she ventured into the world of design for the first time. She was the first Japanese woman to participate in Milan Fashion Week, but her roots lie in the obi (kimono sash) shop her grandfather ran in Ginza, Tokyo.
Ms. Mori's grandmother was the fashion designer Hanae Mori. What she's currently passionate about is the traditional Japanese technique of lacquerware. She's also working hard on restoring a large old house that was built during the Meiji era.
Mitsuishi auditioned at the age of 16 and made his debut as the lead in a film. He had no work in his 30s and experienced a period of struggling. His mother, whom he worried about, passed away at the age of 60, but his father is still alive and is now 93 years old, and they co-starred in a film three years ago.
Kakizawa's great-grandfather and grandfather were both Living National Treasures. From a young age, he aspired to become a professional soccer player and honed his skills in the soccer club of a prestigious high school. He was deeply impressed by the Shiki Theatre Company's production of "The Lion King" when he was in high school, and after intense training despite having no prior experience, he passed the entrance exam for the Shiki Theatre Company's training institute on his first try at the age of 19.
