Actor Shun Oguri will be a guest on the "Meshidora: Kanemoto & Shinnosuke's Gourmet Drive" special (Nippon Television Network) airing on June 21st at 10:30 PM. He will share a secret story about his youth with Jun Matsumoto, whom he says he "really hated."
Oguri, who appeared as a surprise guest, visited a beach cafe with MCs Daiki Kanechika and Shinnosuke Mitsushima and talked about school dramas, which he considers to be his starting point. Oguri, who played the bullied character Noboru Yoshikawa in "GTO" (Kansai TV/Fuji TV, 1998), was only 15 years old at the time and was only about 165 centimeters tall, and revealed the surprising anecdote that he grew 7 centimeters in one go during the filming period.
Oguri, who has appeared in many other school dramas, made the shocking statement that he had been playing high school students for 15 years, which had everyone bursting into laughter.
During their car ride, the conversation turned to "Gokusen" (Nippon Television, 2002), and Oguri said that at the time, he approached the set with a strong feeling that he "had to deliver results." Among those on set was Jun Matsumoto, who was one year younger than him. Looking back on that time, Oguri confessed, "I really hated him." Because they were both 18 and 19 years old, a sensitive period in their lives, they remained distant from each other until the end of the project.
They later co-starred again in "Boys Over Flowers" (TBS, 2005 & 2007). Oguri admitted he had some anxieties about working together again, but a certain incident early in filming changed his mind. What was it about Matsumoto's efforts and approach to the work that Oguri witnessed?
On this day, Kento Yamazaki and Yuki Yamada will also appear as guests, and they will take a drive through the scenic Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture.
