The third main promotional video for "Sayonara Lala," an original television anime commemorating the 15th anniversary of Kinema Citrus, has been released. Based on the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid," the anime tells the story of Lala, the mermaid princess, who is resurrected in modern-day Lake Biwa 200 years later. The video begins with Lala, the mermaid princess, saying, "I'd like to see them just once," showing her interest in humans.
Thanks to a forbidden potion given to her by the witch Grace, Lala is resurrected in Shiga Prefecture in human form. She searches for "true love" and lives a peaceful daily life with Mari Otsu and her family, but an unsettling atmosphere hangs in the air when her fourth sister, the blue-haired Lisa, coldly declares, "There's no way a mermaid and a human could love each other." The story depicts Lala's feelings and internal conflict as she is torn between her mermaid and human nature. It was also announced that Hana Hope will be performing the ending theme, "Hearts Glow."
In addition to the mermaid princess Lala, the third main visual has also been released, featuring characters that Lala encounters in Shiga, including Mari Otsu laughing joyfully with her mouth wide open, Rowan, the great king of the sea and Lala's father, and his sisters and family, the witch Grace with a defiant smile, Luca, a boy who closely resembles the prince Lala fell in love with 200 years ago, and the Otsu family.
It was also announced that Minami Tsuda will play Lisa, Lala's fourth older sister, and Kazutomi Yamamoto will play Kota, who is always with Lisa. Information was also released about the companies that cooperated in the production, including real-life companies and tourist facilities familiar to Shiga Prefecture residents that appear in the anime. Shiga Location Office, Heiwado, Cheerio Japan, Club Harie, Hisada Kogeisha, Cheesecake Shop Andeken, Biwako Valley, Shiga Agricultural Park Blume no Oka, Shiga Prefectural Biwako Museum, and West Japan Railway Company are cooperating in the anime.
The anime is directed by Takashi Koide, who hails from Shiga Prefecture, with series composition by Anna Kawahara, character design by Shiori Tani, and music by Yuma Yamaguchi. It will air on TOKYO MX every Sunday at 12:30 AM starting July 5th. It will also be broadcast on BS Asahi, Yomiuri TV, and AT-X.
