A preview screening event for the third season of the TV anime " Mushoku Tensei, " Shosetsuka ni Naro on the novel submission site "Shosetsuka ni Narou," was held on June 20th at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills (Minato-ku, Tokyo), with Ai Kakuma, who plays the role of Eris Boreas Greyrat, and others in attendance. The third season begins with the "Eris Training Arc," and the "mad dog" Eris, who did not appear in the second season, will make a reappearance. Kakuma revealed her feelings, saying, "I'm nervous. I never thought we would start with Eris. I have to show both the things that remain unchanged about Eris and her growth. I was nervous about meeting the new Eris."
At the screening, in addition to Haruka Tomatsu, who plays Nina Farion, a swordsman who harbors a rivalry with Ellis, Yoko Hikasa, who plays Isolde Cruel, a practitioner of the Suijin-ryu sword style, also made a surprise appearance. When Hikasa presented Kakuma with a bouquet of red roses, Kakuma beamed and said, "I'm so glad I'm back! This is the first time something like this has ever happened to me. Is this a marriage proposal?! Thank you!"
A large decorative ball was set up on stage, and when Kakuma broke it with a toy red sword, a banner appeared that read, "Welcome back, Ellis!" As the fans gathered in the venue shouted "Welcome back!", Kakuma happily replied, "I'm back!"
Kakuma commented on the upcoming broadcast of the third season, saying, "I was nervous because I received the baton after seeing everyone's dedication in the second season. It's filled with love that comes from being separated from Rudeus."
"Mushoku Tensei" is a light novel by Rifujin na Magote, which began serialization on "Shosetsuka ni Naro" in 2012. The story follows a 34-year-old unemployed man who dies but is reborn in a fantasy world of swords and magic, where he uses his intelligence and regrets from his previous life to start a new life. It is a popular work considered a pioneer of "Narou-kei" light novels, and has been published in book form by MF Books (KADOKAWA), with a manga adaptation also being produced. The series has sold over 18 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from January to March 2021 for the first cour and from October to December of the same year, and the high-quality animation produced by Studio Bind, an animation production company established specifically for the series, also became a topic of discussion. The first cour of the second season aired from July to September 2023, and the second cour aired from April to June 2024.
At the screening, it was announced that episodes 1 and 2 of the third season, "Eris's Training Arc," will be broadcast consecutively as the first episode. TOKYO MX, ABEMA, and d Anime Store will broadcast and stream the episodes in advance, starting at 8 PM on July 4th, the day before the previously announced premiere date of July 5th.
