The fourth episode of the TBS Sunday drama "GIFT," starring actor Shinichi Tsutsumi, aired on May 3rd, and the average viewership ratings (according to Video Research, Kanto region) were 6.8% for households and 4.1% for individuals.
The drama is set in the world of wheelchair rugby, a parasport, and tells the story of Fumito Gotetsu (played by Tsutsumi), a genius astrophysicist, who finds answers to difficult problems facing a weak team, while learning the importance of friends and family. Yuki Yamada and Kasumi Arimura also appear in the drama.
Episode 4 was broadcast under the title "The first part of the conclusion of Chapter 1! The Bulls move to a new stage! The bond and love between parent and child..."
When Bando (Keitatsu Koshikawa) falls after colliding with Keijiro (Kyohei Honda), his mother Yoko (Mari Nishio) reacts in an overly exaggerated way. Gotetsu (Tsutsumi), who sees Bando's true potential, compares Bando to a planet and Yoko to a giant satellite orbiting it, and ponders how Bando can shine. He finds the answer and goes to see Yoko. Later, Keijiro finds a crack in his wheelchair and goes to wheelchair craftsman Takamizu (Hiromasa Taguchi). Meanwhile, something strange is happening to Hitoka's (Arimura) father, Hideo (So Yamanaka)...and so the story unfolds, culminating in a shocking revelation at the end.
