It has been announced that TV Asahi will be launching a weekday morning health information program starring freelance announcer Yumiko Udo. The program is called "Yumiko Udo's Health Guide!" and will be a 15-minute program that will be broadcast Monday through Friday from 9:55 AM to 10:10 AM (excluding some areas). It will start on March 30th.
The concept of the program is "easy to understand without being too pushy." Udou will act as a "health guide" and provide "health tips" that can be followed every day to seniors who are overwhelmed by the abundance of health information and often have trouble choosing what to do. At the end of the program, there will be an exercise corner that will help people develop the habit of preventing falls.
Arimoto commented, "Until now, I'd stayed up late and packed my work load whenever I wanted, but as I entered my late 50s, I started to feel unwell every day, and I began to feel that I had to do something about it, even though we're said to be living in an era where people can live to be 100 years old. Rather than just accepting these things, I've been thinking for a long time about whether there is a way to make my body, mind, and even brain healthier."
Regarding the significance of the new program, he said, "There is data that shows that the time around 10 a.m., when the program is broadcast, is the time when seniors are most likely to fall and get injured. If you watch the program at that exact time and start your morning off right with your body and mind in shape, you'll be less likely to worry about injury and will be able to spend your day in a good mood."
"I truly believe that if seniors are healthy, Japan as a whole will be healthy! Although I have the title of 'health guide' on this program, I am actually quite laid back (laughs). I'm not a high-consciousness type, but I want to provide information that is easy and anyone can do right now, but that is well-founded. Let's work together to come up with some 'trick' that will lead to a healthy body, mind and brain!"
With the launch of this program, "Junsanpo," which is currently airing in the same time slot, will change its broadcast time to 10:10 a.m. (excluding some areas). The following program, "Oshita Yoko Wide! Scramble," will start broadcasting at 10:40 a.m. (same time slot).
