It has been announced that the TV anime "Darwin Incident," based on the manga by Shun Umezawa, which was recently selected as the Grand Prize winner at the Manga Taisho Awards 2022, will enter the "Red Pill Shooting Incident" arc from episode 6, which will air on February 10th. At the end of episode 5, "Fight for Rights?", which aired late at night on February 3rd, Gale, a young man who strongly sympathizes with the ideals of ALA and holds up a placard calling for animal rights in the courtyard of his high school, finally commits a violent act. A promotional video and cuts using footage from episode 6 onwards have been released.
"Darwin Incident" has been serialized in "Afternoon" (Kodansha) since 2020. Charlie, a "humanzee" born between a human and a chimpanzee, faces human problems such as terrorism, online outrage, and discrimination. The series has sold over 2.2 million copies in total.
The anime is directed by Tsuda Naokatsu and produced by Belnox Films. Tanezaki Atsumi plays Charlie, a "humanzee" born from a human and a chimpanzee, Kobe Mitsuho plays Lucy Eldred, who Charlie meets when he enrolls at the school, and Otsuka Akio plays Rivera Feyerabend. It is currently airing on TV Tokyo.
