It has recently been announced that actor Seiichi Tanabe will be appearing in the NHK drama series "The Uncertain Court of Themis" (General TV, Tuesdays at 10pm), starring Kenichi Matsuyama. Tanabe will play the main guest role in episode 7, playing a father who continues to pursue the truth behind his daughter's death.
"The Uncertain Courtroom of Themis" is based on a unique legal mystery by Sho Naoshima. It is a courtroom drama about a judge with a developmental disorder who struggles with his own unique characteristics while taking on complex cases. The screenplay is written by Hideya Hamada, who has also written the Fuji TV series "Ichikei no Karasu" and the "Absolute Zero" series.
Tanabe plays Kenichi Hatori, a father who senses something suspicious about the death of his late daughter, Tomoyo, and is pursuing the truth on his own. However, he becomes involved with Ando and others after receiving information from someone that the information about his daughter's case is related to the "Maebashi Family Murder Case" being handled by the First Branch of the Maebashi District Court.
Tanabe says, "Judge Ando, played by Matsuyama, looks at the truth from a unique perspective due to his personality, and Attorney Onozaki, played by Narumi, is at the mercy of his personality, but he still clearly illuminates the path forward. They make an odd pair, a judge and a lawyer, but they work well together and I was drawn into the story as they work towards resolving the case."
"My role is that of a father whose daughter gets caught up in an incident and comes to counsel the two men. I deeply sympathized with the feelings of a father who tries his best to clear his daughter's name. The incident involving his daughter then leads to an even bigger incident that unfolds in the final episode. I hope you enjoy this multifaceted story," he said.
It was also announced that Ishida Riko will appear in the fifth episode as the unidentified Haru, while Yashiro Toshihiro will appear in the seventh episode as the crime prevention consultant Kiuchi Haruhiko, and Shimizu Kurumi will appear as Kenichi's daughter, Hatori Tomoyo.
