It has been announced that Nyannyan Factory's manga "Yani Neko" will be adapted into a TV anime and will begin airing on TOKYO MX and other stations in July. The announcement was made in the 10th issue of the serialized magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha), which went on sale on February 2nd.
Yani Neko announced that it would be turned into an anime in the 8th issue of the magazine, which went on sale on January 19th. The announcement was for an anime adaptation, but it was actually an "Aniki" adaptation, and the appearance of a character who had become an "Aniki" became a hot topic, but it has now been made into an anime.
"Yani Neko" is a manga depicting the daily life of the "most despicable cat." It has been serialized in the magazine since April 2023. The anime is directed by Taku Kimura, written by Takashi Aoshima, character designed by Chikara Matsuura, and composed by Keiichi Suzuki. It is produced by Vibrancy Animation Studio. Yuko Natsuyoshi will play Yanineko.
The original author, Nyannyan Factory, is pleased about the anime adaptation, saying, "When we were approached about adapting the manga we drew freely for Young Magazine into an anime, I thought, 'Huh? Can that be done?' But when we received the script and character designs, I was like, 'Wow, they can do it just like that...' and felt the determination of the anime production team along with being happy. The artwork we've already received, as well as the opening and ending songs, are all of such high quality that all the authors are overwhelmed. As a viewer, I'm looking forward to the anime 'Yanineko' being broadcast on public airwaves."
Yuko Natsuyoshi, who plays Yanineko, commented, "It's fascinating how the daily life of a heavy smoker is portrayed through a cat...! It's fun to read because it's filled with deep, everyday topics that smokers often encounter. I think it's strange that Yanineko is so dirty yet somehow cute. He does things that seem like a natural part of being human, so it's so awful that it makes me laugh, but I also wonder if it's okay because he's a cat..."
