It has been announced that "Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Special Diamond Edition," a special re-edit of the first season of the Shinkalion series, a TV anime series in which Shinkansen trains transform into robots, will be broadcast on TV Tokyo affiliates every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. starting April 5th. It will be aired as part of the network's kids' variety show "Tomipla World Norinori Times!!."
The "Special Diamond Edition" has been specially re-edited with scenes personally selected by director Takahiro Ikezoe, who also worked on the first season. After the TV broadcast, it will be streamed on Takara Tomy's official YouTube channel, "Takara Tomy Channel."
Following the broadcast of the "Special Diamond Edition," Takara Tomy's Plarail Shinkalion toy line will release the SGX series, an evolved version of the Shinkalion from the first season, on April 18th. Featuring a new transformation mechanism inspired by the anime's transformation scenes and increased articulation points such as the hip joints, waist, and wrists compared to the DXS series released when the first season aired (2018), these figures will be able to perform more detailed movements. The "SGX01 Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa," "SGX02 Shinkalion E6 Komachi," and "SGX03 Shinkalion E7 Kagayaki" will be priced at ¥4,950 each. The "SGX Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa + E6 Komachi Link Combination Set" and "SGX Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa + E7 Kagayaki Link Combination Set" will be priced at ¥9,900 each.
The "Shinkalion" series is a collaboration between JR East Planning, Shogakukan Shueisha Productions, and Takara Tomy, and features bullet trains that transform into robots and fight. The TV anime "Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion" aired from January 2018 to June 2019, and the film "Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: The Lightning-Fast ALFA-X from the Future" was released in December of the same year. The TV anime sequel "Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z" aired from April 2021 to March 2022, and "Shinkalion Change the World" aired from April 2024 to February 2025.
