It has been announced that the popular anime series "Sazae-san" will be broadcast overseas in Taiwan. It will be broadcast on the Taiwanese cable TV channel "MOMOTV" every Monday to Friday at 7pm starting from January 26th.
The anime will be developed by MUSE, a major Taiwanese company specializing in the distribution and licensing of Japanese anime. The company commented, "Family-oriented works have always been very popular in Taiwan, and shows like ' Crayon Shin-chan' and 'Atashin'chi' have been loved by many viewers for many years. There is also a high demand from TV stations for shows that families can watch with peace of mind, and as 'Sazae-san' is a classic work that has long been loved in Japan, we believe it will have a high affinity with the Taiwanese market and can be expected to have a stable development, so we purchased this series."
"Sazae-san" is based on a manga by Machiko Hasegawa. It began serialization in 1946 in Fukuoka's local newspaper, the evening edition of Fukunichi, and was serialized in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper from 1951 to 1974. The TV anime has been broadcast on Fuji TV since October 5, 1969, and has been a beloved staple of the 6:30 pm Sunday slot throughout the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras. In October 2024, it will celebrate its 55th anniversary, breaking the Guinness World Record for the "longest-running TV anime program."
